✨ Congratulations on your new relationship with Jesus! ✨
If you’ve recently encountered God or surrendered your life to Him, I want to celebrate with you. This is the greatest decision of your life; you’ve found your eternal best friend and the most faithful relationship you’ll ever know.
When I first met the Lord, everything felt brand new. The world looked different, brighter, and full of hope. It was such a beautiful and exciting season. My hope is this short list makes your transition even easier than mine as your life begins to transform before your eyes.
Of course, the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth, but as your sister in Christ, here are seven things that really helped me when I first started walking with Him:
1. Pray Without Ceasing
Talk to Him about everything: your joys, your struggles, your questions, and even the small daily moments. Prayer isn’t only for bedtime or hard times; it’s an ongoing conversation with your best friend. Talk to Him while you wash your dishes, while you drive for groceries. He never gets tired of hearing your voice. You can enjoy this new relationship and pray text our Lord day and night and He loves it. Enjoy the closeness and new sensitivity to the Holy Sprit.
2. Read the Word Daily
Just as your body needs food for strength and to grow, your spirit needs Scripture for strength and to grow as well. You need scripture daily now it is your new instruction manual- love letter from Jesus. Ask the Lord to show you which translation (I personally love NKJV and it has easy to understand modern English) begin feeding your spirit daily. Even a few verses while you’re waiting in line or sitting in the doctor’s office can bring life. Start your day with scripture, meditate on what you read and spend time asking Him questions, He will answer you. Ask Him where to read, He’ll will lead you where to go and what He wants you to learn each day. Some may think an ancient book has nothing applicable to 2025 and beyond however He will show you how pertinent it truly is for our modern daily living.
3. Worship Often
Music has a way of lifting our hearts. Fill your space with songs that glorify Him. Play worship while you drive, cook, or rest. Worship shifts your perspective, brings joy, and reminds you of His goodness. To know Jesus is to love Him, and worship becomes the overflow of that love. Scripture reminds us if we want to overcome the spirit of heaviness to put on the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3). It’s so very important to worship. Not only when you feel like it and are happy but all the time especially on the hard days and they will still come, now you have Jesus going through the trials with you!
4. Find a Church Family
Pray and ask God to guide you to the right church community. The people you walk with matter. Surround yourself with believers who love Jesus, encourage your faith, and strengthen your walk. A good church family will walk with you and help you grow. He can use your new fire to help encourage others in the church too!
5. Put on the Armor of God
Life with Jesus is full of joy, but it’s also a battle. The enemy will try to discourage you, plant doubts, and distract you. That’s why Scripture calls us to “put on the full armor of God.” Stay rooted in His Word, stand firm in faith, and remember: the devil has no power over you, because you belong to Jesus. If you find yourself in any kind of danger or trouble call on the name of Jesus, He will never leave you.
6. Live by Faith
Have big faith. Believe God will move in your life. Scripture says without faith it’s impossible to please Him, so bring your requests boldly and trust Him fully. Let go of skepticism and lean into childlike trust—He is faithful and will never fail you. Don’t forget the lord teaches us, we walk by faith and not by sight. If God says He’s going to do something, we are not to be moved by what we see. If God said it, He will do it.
7. Enjoy the Season
This first season with Jesus, the “honeymoon stage”, is so special. Everything feels new and alive. Treasure it. If your experience is anything like mine was your world view is rapidly changing and life just feels different with Him. Walk closely with Jesus, soak it in, and let His goodness reshape your heart. Seasons will change, but the sweetness of this beginning is a gift you’ll always remember.

You’re stepping into the greatest adventure of your life. Jesus is everything your heart has been searching for, and He will never leave you. Enjoy this season, lean into His presence, and know that He’s walking with you every step of the way eternally now.
